Quick and simple breakfast ideas for toddlers

Quick & simple breakfast ideas for toddlers

School is back in session, which means getting back into a routine with busy mornings rushing to get everyone out of the house with brushed teeth, dressed, backpacks filled, and everyone fueled and ready to take on the day. Wake up your kids and their tastebuds and get out of the boring toast and cereal rut by whipping up these favorite quick, healthy, and simple breakfast ideas for on-the-go parents.

Love toast

Whether you call it egg-in-a-nest, frog-in-the-pond, or egg-in-the-hole, this dish is delicious no matter the name. This easy breakfast classic usually involves cutting out a circle and cooking a sunny-side-up egg in the center of a slice of toast. With our take on this classic, we’re making it extra cute by cutting the hole in the shape of a heart for a hearty and sweet start to the day.

Breakfast smoothies

Smoothies are a treasure trove of tasty fruits, healthy veggies, and any other added goodies you’d like to mix in, plus a great way to pack in all the nutrients. A quick way to make daily fruit smoothies is to measure the ingredients you need for a single serving and then freeze multiples for the entire week! You can use frozen bananas, blueberries, chia seeds, oat milk ice cubes — anything you want. Just take the baggie out of the freezer in the morning, and when you’re all dressed and ready, throw it in the blender!

Overnight oats

Overnight oats is a simple breakfast that you can meal prep ahead of the week. Endlessly customizable, you can combine oats, milk, yogurt, fruit, and other toppings such as a nut butter or even chocolate chips for a sweet morning treat. A perfect grab-and-go option, this nourishing breakfast stores well in the fridge.

Mini egg frittata cups

Egg Frittatas are a delicious and nutritious morning bite everyone loves, toddlers included! These savory soufflés are made by mixing in your choice of veggies and or meats into a muffin tin, cracking an egg, and sprinkling cheese on top. Place them in an oven for just a few minutes, and you have an easily reheatable and portable breakfast for the whole week.

Homemade granola

Once you try homemade granola, you’ll never go back to store-bought. A good homemade one is an easy and inexpensive way to satisfy your little one’s sweet tooth while controlling the amount of sugar and the quality of ingredients. Whip up this healthy version with whole rolled oats, coconut oil, nuts, dried fruit, and even a hint of vanilla extract.

Blender muffins

Muffins are an ideal, portable breakfast, but have you tried blender muffins? Flourless and made with little ingredients, these are the perfect bite to start the day. Plus, you can sneak in a handful of vegetables. Put everything into a blender, bake, and enjoy. These store well and are freezer friendly. For healthy banana blender muffins, four ways, try these, or for a fun, Hulk-inspired recipe, whip these up.

Baked French toast

French Toast is an all-around winner for toddlers. Instead of the traditional French Toast, cut your bread of choice into sticks, bake up a batch on a sheet pan, and store in the freezer. No fork required, these are hand-hold-holdable and can be served with yogurt, fruit, or applesauce.
